Thomas was one of the early settlers to Barecove (now Hingham), Massachusetts. Hingham is one of the oldest towns in Mass. Thomas was given land grants in 1637 in Hingham. But it wasn’t bought from the Wampanoag Indians until 1665.
Hingham is named after a village in Norfolk, East Anglia (England)
Thanks to the good will of the Wampanoag Indians, the settlers not only survived but had a peace alliance for two decades.
